...I still don't know how activate the "boss mode" for a character. And what of "BG error reading stages"... Now, I know the cause of the problem! If the stages are too "heavy" in the sense of graphics and/or size, and/or are, in addition, not too appropriate in the sense of compatibility (e.g., too many working 1.0 stages on 1.1b MUGEN or in MKP)... ...in such a dramatic and dangerous case, o mugenists, kindly make absolutely sure that you put a VERY SMALL number of the stages into your select.def file!!!!! And now, my exact report: 1. I do minimize the number of stages, keeping just those absolutely needful in the sense of the story (in my case, they were super duper heavy, but just 28 in total). 2. The measure that proven the most important: I delete ANY other stage from the select.def ! 3. No stage I kept exists under [EXTRASTAGES] label. Instead, every stage is attributed to a specific character. So, the stages prove a bit repetitive inside the list (and the final location, "The Pyramid", is required by the story to be ULTRA repetitive, since two tremendous armies met by the said Pyramid of Argus). 4. And, no character is "freely roaming". Instead, every character got "their preferred" stage. No "Shin_Sub-Zero, order=1". Instead, always "Shin_Sub-Zero, stages/Fengjian_Teahouse_Night.def, order=1". Et caetera. 5. The total number of appointed matches (to beat the Arcade mode) didn't exceed 18. A solid part of them is attributed to "The Pyramid" (to imitate the big final battle), as said above. 6. And, in addition, just to be certain (one can't be "too much precautious"), I swapped MKP.exe file by the "4gb" mugen.exe file. And... "BG error reading stages" vanished! Was cured as is! Note: the number of characters in the select.def doesn't matter (absolutely doesn't, gentlemen!), since you made your mugen.cfg as follows: PlayerCache=0, Precache=0, BufferedRead=0, UnloadSystem=1. In my example with MK1(2023), -- the makeshift MKP-version of it, -- the characters were more than a hundred. And... no harm from them. The harm was produced just by the excessive list of stages. (A small addition: the 4gb patch can sometimes make 1.1b Mugen (including MKP) crash. But I removed the "4gbpatch" exefile and put back the MKP.exe. And... nothing bad happened. The game still works.)

Hi, there is no selectable boss mode. If you want to change someone you could enter the char folder, find the chars name, open de "name".def and erase or change the author line

@@ElGranDiego i mean, how to change a poorly (not by you, Diego!) adapted char into something like "boss mode", i.e., how to edit some file (and which one exactly?), to make the char _not_ display "Finish him!/her!' line, but make them just instantly collapse instead?? Some people claim to know how to do it. But they never want to tell me the exact method to do it.

@@UniOken ooh I Understand now. Its the same as I said with the char folder but make sure the author is = "Boss". Check out the Goro or Shao Khan .def file

Sure. You can delete anyone from the select.def file in data folder. But for the "one box char" you will need an addon called mugenhook that I completly forgot how to use
